Cumbre Womens SFL Expansion
Cambio Cumbre Womens squad will see a period of vitalisation for the upcoming 2017 Winter SFL season. Cumbre’s women’s side will be expanded to have a team competing in the Championship division due to the clubs ambitions. At the helm of the resurgence is women’s player and team manager Deena Hineidi.
“Our goal is to develop each player on and off the court and have the opportunity to compete nationally and internationally. With that in mind we (Cumbre WSFL) will bring on junior girls on board to mentor them and allow them opportunities in the Junior SFL so they can become the next WSFL generation.” -Deena Hineidi
The Cumbre WSFL squad will be moving to a two times per week training schedule in order to prepare for future tournaments and leagues. The transition will coincide with the commencement of the upcoming 2017 winter season and will become a platform for all female players to develop and chose futsal as their preferred sport over association football.
Anna De Felice (Captain) and Cam Harel (vice captain) and Lindsey Jobling (vice captain) will be key figures in the development of the squads culture and performance over the next season.
Harel (24) was instrumental in Cumbre’s maiden SFL championship back in 2015. She will be leading the charges for a title in the 2017 Winter edition.
The Mauritian was selected to represent Mauritius in 2015 at an international football tournament, however she opted to travel with the a WA select futsal squad (WSFL Flames) to Spain and Uruguay. On her travels she competed against the likes of Atletico Madrid, the US national futsal team, and the Colombian National futsal team. Harel was also a part of Cumbre’s WSFL squad the competed in the 2016 FAFL placing 3rd overall.
Lindsey Jobling is another player with vast experience frequently travelling to play interstate in tournaments under the AFA organisation and has recently been selected to compete in the women’s world cup in Spain later this year.
With the success of the womens Series Futsal Victoria in Melbourne, Cambio Cumbre has set its sights to once again qualify and travel to the Mecca of Series Futsal, Melbourne Victoria.
