With the departure of former WSFL captain Anna De Felice, WSFL head coach Gerardo Soto has appointed Cam Harel as the senior womens captain, and Deena Hineidi as Vice-captain.
“It was very disappointing that our captain (De Felice) left the club suddenly. She didn’t attempt to resolve any team or personal issues in order to realise any solutions and move the womens squad in the right direction. But, we’re not going to hold players back and we’re happy to let them go if they want to. Cam is a great leader and she has helped the players around her play at a higher level. She is more than capable of taking on the role as Captain.” – Gerardo Soto
La Cumbre is currently sitting in third place behind Stirling and South Perth after a strong performance against Fremantle FC last weekend where Harel scored all three goals.
“The girls are showing a lot of commitment, which is excellent, and I can see their improvement week in week out. Their movement is much more fluent, and they’re getting into better positions to receive the ball. There’s still a long way to go but we’re moving in the right direction” – Gerardo Soto
A big boost to the squad is the return of Lindsey Jobling. A star WSFL player who recently returned to the squad after International duty competing in Barcelona and played a big role in the 3-2 win against Fremantle last weekend.
This weekend La Cumbre look to solidify their third place spot when they come up against an erratic Melville Spirit.
