Rockingham Cambio Cumbre are back in the national Futsal scenery after a thrilling performance in the inaugural 2019 Invitational Futsal Club.
The success of the team in the cup was not a coincidence according to Cumbre president Dean Hayes:
“Whilst the Club always want to be competitive, we immediately decided to take the Cup seriously from the point of view of it helping to add some really good competition experience to the pathway that our younger players are on with us.
We also believed that by adding Rob and Rico to the squad, the experience of our younger players would be significantly enhanced by seeing how they plan, prepare and play during and in the lead up to the Cup. We believe their learning was also hugely enhanced by the quality of the opposition in the Cup too. It was especially great to see the effort put in by the Sydney team to come over to play.
We think the Cup was extremely well organised and exceeded all the requirements we wanted our players to get from being part of it. It was important to us to ensure the rest of our Club felt involved in the Cup too and we did some great internal promotion to achieve this. Things like having Club mascots at every game was a deliberate strategy that was very successful.
In summary, as a Club we feel that all the amount of teamwork, planning and effort that went into preparing for the Cup was rewarded with a great tournament, including some great games and new experiences, that will be a real asset to the Club in the near future”.
